I have recently changed the theme and name for this site to be more indicative of what the site is. It is no longer called “Images of Broken Light” as it was previously, and I have resorted to calling the site Robotii after the domain name. This is in an effort to make the branding of the site consistent, and will probably result in a drop in traffic.
The reason for doing so, is that there is no need for the site to have a title which is completely different from the url. Any comments, questions or suggestions can be added below.

Google Chrome
Google Chrome was released yesterday for windows, and google have promised that Linux and Mac versions are in the pipeline. I downloaded it on my laptop and played about with it for around 1/2 an hour.
Initial impressions are that it is very fast and doesn’t seem to hang up on flash content quite as much as Firefox, rendering being very similar to Safari’s (being based off WebKit, this is to be expected), but I did not see anything really compelling that would make me switch to it when the Linux version comes out.
I’m sure that I will download the Linux version and play about with it when it finally makes it way out of the googleplex, but in this particular incarnation, I think that there is very little that it offers over firefox and safari – certainly nothing worth writing home about. Your opinion may vary from this depending on how important flash is to you, whether you run Linux, and whether you rely on Firefox extensions. Still it looks better than the IE8 beta in terms of memory usage.
Edit: Security vulnerability in Chrome has been found already.
As usual please post your thoughts on Google’s new baby below.

iPod Touch
I have recently downloaded the Wordpress client for the iTouch and iPhone and started playing about with it.
First impressions are that it is very straightforward to set up your blog for use with it. I was running a slightly out of date version of wordpress, which the application warned me about. A quick upgrade to the latest version and we were good to go.
Writing on the iTouch is not the most pleasant experience, but the Wordpress client is easy to use in spite of this, providing a means to compose offline and update when safely back within range of a wifi network. Interestingly it has everything working that you can do through the web version, with the exception of being able to add pictures to a post. I’m going to try it for a bit longer before passing any judgement, but it seems a very promising app, with the added bonus of being zero cost.

The following statement was released by Microsoft concerning Google’s Google Apps software.
“Google has a history of releasing incomplete products, calling them beta software, and issuing updates on a ‘known only to Google’ schedule–this flies in the face of what enterprises want and need in their technology partners–what is Google doing that indicates they are in lock step with customer needs?”

I have just got hold the new Nokia N95, via ebay!
I have to say, its a pretty useful gadget. The inbuilt GPS can sometimes be a bit lacking, and the phone can sometimes be a bit slower than I’m used to, but overall its a winner. Here are a run down of the features.
- GPS built in, with Maps application and navigation
- Radio, which can actually play through the main speakers, should this be desired
- MP3 and video playback
- Camera with 5M pixel resolution, video at 640×480
- Large screen – I’m not sure what size
- Ability to actually be used as a phone

After a lengthy spell of being out of action due to hackers, I am pleased to note that thinkjesus.co.uk is back in action.
There is not much in the way of content up there yet, but the forums are working, and there is the ability to contribute content if you are interested.
Please contact me if you are interested in doing so. I will either give you access to put it up there yourself, or those who are scared/smart to use computers can email it to me.

I have upgraded the site to Wordpress 2.0 after reading the comments about it and deciding to risk trying it out. Along the way I discovered a number of wordpress plugins which I am trying out. Shortstat which collects stats about your blog and shows a nice one page summary of the users visiting your site. It seems a lot faster than the BAStats that I was previously using, which corrupted my database, leaving me no option but to turn it off.
The other plugin I’m using is Wordpress Database Backup which allows you to take a backup of your site and email it to yourself. It would be nice if it had the feature to automatically do this every day, or on a regular schedule, but I don’t add too much content here so its not a big problem to do it on an ad hoc basis.

Well, its been a long time since I last wrote, and a lot has happened since then. I got married, went on honeymoon to Croatia and have properly moved into my new place. Everything is set up in our new place, and I’ve settled back into commuting down to Crawley, which is quite a long journey just for a job. I’ve been looking for a new job closer to where I live, to cut down on travelling time and costs, but so far haven’t been very successful. I reckon its gonna take a bit of time before I can get another job, although obviously I’m trying to make that as short as possible.
Haven’t had too many problems with the journey down, but sometimes I don’t get back till 8 o’clock which is a bit of a pain. Still, its keeping the money coming in, which is vitally important, seeing as there’s so many bills to pay.
Tuesday this week, there was a problem with the gates at the station, when a fat lady got stuck in the gates, and a large number of people missed their train because of it. I was one of the people affected, which meant that I didn’t get to work as soon as I woiuld have liked.

Well, there’s 4 days to go before the wedding, and I’m running around, doing some last minute preparation. Order of Service are mostly printed. There’s just the question of getting my best man to write his speech. As an aside the speech I did for his wedding is up here. Hopefully Richard’s speech will be as good, if not better. I’m looking forward to the wedding day, and going on honeymoon as well.
There’s been a lot going on, which is why I haven’t been able to write as much here as I’d like. Hopefully after I come back and get settled into my new flat, there should be some more posts coming. But I think that this will be the last before the wedding itself. I wasn’t planning on blogging in as great detail as Richard did, or picking as interesting a domain name, but hopefully a few people from work and uni will be reading this. If so, I’d just like to say, I hope you’re enjoying working as much as I’m enjoying this time off. I doubt it though.
If someone can point me towards some tips to monetize this blog, I would be most greatful. I already have an Amazon link to a few products, so if you can think of other ways to earn money from this I would be most greatful. I’ve decided to give up on the Firefox marketing as most of the Firefox users I know have adblock installed, and thats no good for earning money.
