Suggestions on how to pray daily

I have to admit, this is turning into a mini series now. Again this is soemthing I feel very strongly is for me. It may also be for you. I don’t know. If you like this, or it has helped you, please comment to say so. I will be encouraged to try to write more.

“Talk with God often. Talk over your problems with Him. Let Him bear the weight of your troubles. (See Matthew 11:28; 1 Peter 5:7.)”

When we speak with God, we admit that we need Him and depend on Him for our very existence. With this in mind we can turn our worries over to God, in the rationale that we are doing what we can to reduce our anxiety, whilst not abdicating our responsibilities.

What I mean by the above is that we should depend on God for all our needs to be met, but, at the same time, not expect that God’s will is that we do nothing and sit back and enjoy the ride. God expects us to be active, to use our brains and bodies in pursuit of these things. If you doubt this, I would strongly suggest reading the first few chapters of Genesis again. It should leap out at you when you are aware of it.

Praise and thank God for who He is and for what He has done for you and for others. This is not only giving the proper glory to God in these matters, but will also put you in the right frame of mind for the following.

Admit your weaknesses. You know you are not perfect. So does God. There is no point in pretending otherwise. Again, this will put in mind of who God is, and your condition before Him (a redeemed child of God, who nonetheless is still capable of sin).

Confess each specific sin that you are aware of. If we confess, God has promised to forgive our sins – and what God has forgiven, no one can rightfully say it is not forgiven.

Pray for others that they, too, may receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Pray also for good health or any specific needs for others, as you are aware of. God has grace enough for not only those who accept Him, but also for those who choose to reject Him.
