Release New Energy into your Life

June 13th, 2007 · No Comments

I am writing about this, in the hope that I’ll actually do something about it.

Do you suffer from a lack of energy? Is your work and commitments making you feel tired all the time. Well here are some ideas that could potentially revitalise your energy levels, and make you feel like facing the world again.

1. Spend 10 minutes today doing something you want to do.

Every day, most of what you are doing is out of necessity. Work, family commitments and expected obligations contrive to eat up large portions of our time, energy and money. In order to achieve a clear head for the next day, you should go for a walk, read a portion of a book or short story, or put some headphones on and listen to music. Just do whatever you feel like doing. The point behind this is that the action is something you’ve chosen, and you are saying to yourself “I choose to do this” which will restore some semblence of control in your life once more.

2. Stop wasting time doing things which aren’t important to you.

This may seem obvious, but many people just do things out of habit, or ingrained sense that they must be seen to be doing something. Stop. There is a reason we are called human beings and not human doings. You should decide whether the things you are being asked to do are in your best interests, and whether the time spent doing these things could be spent better on other things. This may even include things like watching tele, or sleeping, both of which it is entirely possible to do too much of.

3. Look for the biggest gains in the way you spend your time.

This again is fairly obvious, but one neglected by most people. Watching TV or daydreaming can be fun, but it is not necessarily the most fulfilling way to spend your time. You might have a passion for playing guitar (which is something I need to do more of), painting, or even creating well crafted articles for posting on the web. Many of these things could be used to relax, invigorate and even challenge you onto better things.

However, I would recommend that you do not choose to do things that you know you will not like, for the simple reason that it will seem that it is more work. Things that you do like, but are creative, useful or just plain fun. I need not teach everyone what fun is, everyone has their own opinion on these things.

I would love to hear your tips on how you deal with the stress and complications of life in the modern world.
