Loading ...See http://www.ubuntulinux.org/ for a version of linux that just works straight out of the box. Ubuntu is based on debian but actually has a working amd64 port which is cool. I found, however that there wasn’t enough control over what was included by default in the install. As a result many daemons are started which are not necessary for the typical user. On the other hand it does seem useful for corporate installations where multiple duplicate machines are required.
All in all, an interesting piece of work. Gentoo is still my preferred choice though.
