There is a great list of ping servers you should add to your setup listed at Ensight and en even more comprehensive list at Ellittoback. However, they missed the new Moreover Ping Server. Moreover supplies MSN Newsbot, so it is definitely worth adding as Anil mentioned on Six Apart.
Another service worth mentioning is the manual Ping-O-Matic.
